Organ Pangkreas berfungsi menghasilkan kelenjar Eksokrin dan kelenjar Endokrin. Eksokrin menghasilkan kelenjar air liur, kelenjar keringat, dan kelenjar saluran cerna. Sedangkan Endokrin adalah yang mengeluarkan hormon, yaitu hormon insulin dan hormon glukagon. Kedua hormon ini berperan dalam mengatur kadar glukosa atau gula dalam darah.
Jika Pangkreas rusak maka tak mampu mengeluarkan enzim dan hormon tadi ketika asupan makanan memasuki pencernaan. Akibatnya adalah penyerapan terhadap makanan terganggu. Dari sini muaranya menimbulkan beberapa penyakit termasuk Diabetes.
